WNC Nature Center Virtual Student Visit
Waynesville Middle School 6th graders recently enjoyed a virtual visit from the WNC Nature Center located in Asheville, North Carolina. Education specialists from The WNC Nature visited each science class at Waynesville Middle School over the past two weeks. The WNC Nature Center mobile field trip visit has become a tradition for Waynesville Middle School 6th graders over the past five years. With COVID restrictions such as socially distanced classrooms, A/B Schedules, and Virtual only students, this became a bit of a scheduling dilemma. The WNC Nature Center scheduling department and the Friends of the WNC Nature Center offered these programs virtually for all students at Waynesville Middle through a generous grant so each student could enjoy this learning opportunity at no cost. Students worked on building a food chain and a food web using technology tools while interacting with the education specialists. Finally, students were treated to a visit with a live animal guest from the Nature Center.
