On Thursday, September 20th, Waynesville Middle School’s STEM-E Club participated in a day long workshop at Cherokee Central Schools. Our students learned about the physics behind Cherokee weapons including blow guns and atlatls. We learned how the atlatl increased the throwing distance of a spear through levers and Newtonian forces. We also participated in the Inventors Hall of Fame Entrepreneurship workshop and students re-engineered cell phones and improved cell phone case designs. Our students had a very rewarding experience and we look forward to participating in the Spring STEM-E competitions.
