Waynesville Middle School sixth grade students participated in Parks in the Classroom this week.  This activity was designed by Great Smoky Mountains National Park ranger, Erin Lamm.  The park ranger and some volunteers visited with all of the sixth grade science classes this week.  The lesson involved understanding the difference between an ecosystem and a biome.  Students took a virtual trip to an unknown National Park location where they had to decipher clues to determine what National Park they were located in.  Using information given on habitat, climate, wildlife, and a map, the students determined their location.  Rangers also talked with the students about their career with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Waynesville Middle extends a big thank you to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park rangers and volunteers for visiting with us this week.
